Wet-Wall Evaporative Cooling System® for Air Cooled Chillers

The Wet-wall Evaporative Cooling System® is the result of many years of research into the field of energy conservation for air cooled chillers. In order to protect the integrity of the system against fraudulent imitations, our Company has successfully registered the system with the Government of the UAE.

The Wet-wall Evaporative Cooling System® is based on the principle of evaporative cooling; when water comes in contact with air, the water absorbs thermal energy from the air resulting in evaporation. The Wet-wall cooling pads make use of this principle to cool the air. The cooling pads rapidly absorb water and provide a very large contact surface between air and water. As air passes through the pads, the ambient air temperature drops by about 10°C on average before air enters the chiller’s condenser coils, thus reducing energy consumption.

During normal operation, water is pumped to the top of the cooling pads and distributed evenly with the help of a specially designed manifold. Water flows down the corrugated surface of the cooling pad and is partly evaporated by the warm air that passes through the pad.The rest of the water assists in washing the pad, and is drained back to the pumping station through a gutter system. The air that leaves the pad is cooled.

 

We have many applications in the UAE, with proven energy savings between12-15 % of chillers electrical energy consumption. Our Company guarantees a minimum of 8% energy savings of chillers’ annual energy consumption equipped with our Wet-wall Evaporative Cooling System® which are measured and proven at site through a Measurement & Verification procedure.

Performance Optimisation Controls

We have developed in-house an advanced control system with a suitable control strategy to optimise the performance of our wet-wall system according to ambient conditions and running status of chiller. Our controller displays continuously the ambient air temperature and temperature after the cooling pads, thus enabling a direct comparison of the wet-wall system performance for complete transparency and confidence with the client.

 

Anti-Legionella Measures

Although to-date we have never identified the occurrence of Legionella in our systems, nevertheless our company has developed a tailored-made anti-legionella system for complete peace of mind.

 

Maintenance

The maintenance of our Wet-wall Evaporative Cooling System® is simple. It requires monthly cleaning of the cooling pads and water distribution system with normal water at standard domestic pressure. Under a proper maintenance schedule, the expected life of the cooling pads can be easily extended to 4 years and beyond.
